The serological tests that will help to discover the still unknown cases of #Coronavirus are born in #Siena: according to the agreement between the Istituto Spallanzani in Rome and #Diesse – Diagnostica Senese. The tests, currently under development, will be available from the end of April and, in addition to complementing the diagnosis provided by molecular tests especially in the case of asymptomatic subjects, will allow epidemiological studies on the spread of Coronavirus. These are the tests thanks to which the Region of Tuscany will conduct a mass screening on tens of thousands of citizens – the planned tests are 500 thousand, starting from health workers.

Diagnostica Senese, a company with 40 years of life, born as a spin-off of the historic Sclavo Institute, is present in one hundred countries and has its headquarters in Siena. Its control was taken over a year ago by the French private equity operator specialized in the health sector ArchiMed.
“This collaboration is not born now, but it has an important history behind it and we can now reap the benefits of it,” stressed Enrico Rossi, President of the Region. “There is an important relationship – he said – between Diesse Diagnostica Senese and the Region of Tuscany, matured with our policies of support and industrial development, with the use of European funds and with our policies in favour of Life Sciences. We are particularly proud to have an excellence of this kind in Tuscany, thanks to which the Tuscans will be able to count on high quality tests, able to make us even stronger in this battle against the epidemic”.
