Biotechnologies from Tuscany at Bio International Convention, Chicago 2nd 6th May Tuscany, a breeding ground for biotech companiesTuscany, a central Italian region, will participate for the first time at Bio International Convention in Chicago (2nd 6th May). At booth , within the Italian joint stand (Level 3- Exhibit Hall A), Toscana Promozione-Invest in Tuscany delegate Tuscan exhibitors at Bio International Convention: - Toscana Promozione - Invest in Tuscany (www.investintuscany.com) - Toscana Life Science Foudation (www.toscanalifesciences.org) - Eudax (www.eudax.com) - ProteoGen Bio (www.proteogenbio.com ) - Abiogen Pharma (www.abiogen.it) With 3,6 million of people, Tuscany has a central position in Mediterranean area and in Italy, and is served by a good infrastructure system. The region presents a notable concentration of Universities and Research centers, with Pisa, Florence and Siena, delivering yearly more than 9.000 graduates in scientific and technical fields. Beside Universities, several players are active in the Life Science in Tuscany, as National Research Council (CNR) that has in Tuscany a total of 16 Institutes plus 13 territorial section. Relevant top players as Novartis, El. En, Eli Lilly, Abiogen, Menarini, have already chosen the region as location for their business, exploiting all the advantages of working in a creative, flexible and exciting environment. Companies investing in territory can highly benefit from the overall supporting environment: funds are available both from the private and the governmental side, technologies parks provide high quality services for developing business, while more than 10 business incubators across the region support growth of small companies. Tuscan Biotech cluster is sector is able to satisfy the needs of the most demanding markets, In particular, Tuscany has a strong tradition in the red biotechnology field, and it is ranked number 3 per number of biotech companies in Italy. The Tuscan Health System is one of the best managed in Italy, thus favoring a collaborative mood between authorities and industry. Hospitals in the region favours R&D activities and a high number of clinical trials is performed with the participation of global players . Tuscany ranks no. 4 in Italy per number of clinical trials, thanks also to recently introduced simplified procedures that are the result of the cooperation between the industry and the regional government.
