TUSCANY: HOTELS AND BEDS
FLORENCE, 3rd AUGUST - According to the 2007 Report on Italian Hotels drawn up by Federaberghi-Confturismo, Tuscany is the 4th Italian region in terms of number of hotels (3,002), beds (181,961) and national and international tourists staying in its hotels. Tuscany also ranks second (after Veneto) in terms of incoming guests at hotels and other accommodation facilities (10,3 million) and total number of guests (38.1 million nights). There are more than 84,000 hotel rooms in Tuscany. The province of Florence ranks 8th in terms of number of yearly overnight stays, with 7 million (4.5 of which is foreign tourists). Accommodation facilities in Tuscany also mean jobs for 19,389 people, of whom more than 16,000 in hotels. On average, each hotel employs 10.3 people whereas in related services the average number of employees is 8.6 per enterprise. These figures relate to 2006 and have been prepared by Federalberghi-Confturismo in collaboration with Ebnt, the National Bi-cameral Organization for Tourism. It's worth highlighting that in Tuscany, the average yearly number of hotel workers is 16,118 (13,052 are full time and 3,066 are part time).
