Florence – Expansion of Antica Valserchio in Tuscany

A new technological factory with an investment of over € 8 million, a new logistics hub, a specialized supply chain and the strengthening of collaboration with the academic world. These are the objectives of a memorandum of understanding signed today in Florence by the textile company Antica Valserchio (more than 30 million turnover and 70 employees), with the Tuscan Regional Councillor Stefano Ciuoffo, the Mayor of Montale (Pistoia) Ferdinando Betti and the Mayor of Castelnuovo Garfagnana (Lucca), Andrea Tagliasacchi.

The engine of the project is the historic company Antica Valserchio (formerly Artes – Artigianato Tessile) that intends to build within two years a new and larger headquarter, always located in the municipality of Castelnuovo Garfagnana: the investment amounts to € 4 million for the structure and another € 4.5 million for high-tech machinery. The current factory, as stated in the protocol, could be used by the Higher Insitute “Iti” of Castelnuovo Garfagnana as a laboratory for educational activities in the textile sector. In fact, the company is interested in starting up forms of collaboration with local schools in order to find workers through internships in the company.

The second settlement provided in the MoU will be a logistic hub in the municipality of Montale, in order to make the distribution chain more efficient and to improve the management of processing waste.

With the Memorandum, Antica Valserchio is also committed to promote the creation of a network of companies that involves both Castelnuovo companies, but also the textile district of Prato.
