Pisa and its province: an area with great potential.

The peculiarities of the area around Pisa, which is centrally located in the Mediterranean and northern European markets, make it unique. With its considerable physical and economic features (2,450 sq. km., more than 390,000 inhabitants, about 50,000 businesses and 101,000 employees), this province enjoys substantial multi-modal infrastructures: adequate road, motorway and rail networks, the international passenger and cargo airport "Galileo Galilei" in Pisa, the Amerigo Vespucci interport, and the ports of Livorno and Piombino.
The jewel in the crown, however, might well be its excellent scientific and cultural tradition with three prestigious Universities, modern research centres, a very important hospital, significant availability of technical and scientific graduates, a diversified quality manufacturing sector, good quality scientific research and application thanks to technology parks and company incubators.
